Sweater vest weather

It might not be sweater weather just yet; it’s most certainly sweater vest weather. You know that in-between time when it’s too hot for a coat, and even too warm for a jumper, hello Indian summer. And just a light layer will suffice?
Well, step away from your shacket or leather jacket just yet, and embrace the sweater vest or knitted tank. Shaking off its stuffy connations, the knitted vest is the latest in the long list of Dad styles adopted by the fashion set, churned out, and cool. See Dad sneakers, Dad sandals, Hawaiian shirts, and Dad jeans. Should I go on?
Now the sweater vest is not only is it the cool-girl must-have, of course right now, but the quirky knit is on a mission to replace your cardigan as your go-to layer of choice for autumn.
And for a good reason too. It’s way more versatile than you may think, and the new-gen versions even make it covetable. In terms of styling, throw the sleeveless knit over a collared blouse or oversized shirt, paired it with a long-sleeve midi dress, or depending on the silhouette of the knitted tank, wear it solo as a top.
Never one to shy away from a polarising trend, I’m on sweater vest number four right now, and I’ve picked up ones in plain and printed. I love the idea of contrasting a printed vest with a patterned dress for the ultimate print party. But a collared shirt, vest, and jeans is another solid combo for me.
