New season, new hue, over the past few years, we’ve seen millennial pink, Kermit green, and Gen-Z yellow take a spin in the colour wheel spotlight, but this season, a sweet shade is taking over the runways and the high-street – chocolate brown.

On the runways, the deep, rich colour featured in the collections of Rejina Pyo, Acne, Miu Miu, Victoria Beckham and Prabal Gurung with a focus on structured, streamlined pieces including outerwear, tailoring and dresses. Quick to follow suit, the high-street reimagined leather loafers, chic overcoats, and cosy cardigans in the delicious, pared-back shade.

Unlike its predecessors like green, pink and yellow, that was in-your-face bright and bold; chocolate brown is not flashy while still being chic and looking hella luxe.

A shade you can invest in and wear forever and not forgetting versatile. With what’s all that’s going on- who isn’t looking for timeless, stylish pieces that will last long after the autumn season?

The abundance on offer proves how popular the shade is for the season, but also demonstrates how you even layer it up and wear it head-to-toe. Try contrasting varied shades of brown – like coffee, caramel, cinnamon, and walnut for a dreamy tonal outfit that just screams autumn. Or the luxe shade is also the perfect partner to some serious bright hues – try it with cobalt, cerulean, green, or pink. For a more subtle approach mix it other earthy shades like cream, khaki, and tan or soft pastel tones like baby blue, lilac, or rose.

Here are some of my favourite chocolate brown pieces from high-street to high-end:
